Hadith 4182

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) instructed the people and said: Whoever among you wishes to perform Umrah before Hajj may do so. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) himself assumed Ihram only for Hajj, and did not perform Umrah.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This is also established from Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed ‘umrah along with Hajj. Then what is the meaning in this hadith that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed Hajj Ifrad (single Hajj)? Hafiz Ibn Hajar has presented a reconciliatory solution in (Fath al-Bari: 3/429): Whoever narrated Hajj Ifrad from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, his statement will be understood as referring to the initial talbiyah uttered by the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Whoever mentioned Hajj Tamattu‘, his intent is the command given by the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to the companions. And whoever mentioned Hajj Qiran, he has described the final action that occurred from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. In any case, the statement of the person who attributes Hajj Qiran to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will be accepted, because he possesses greater knowledge.
