(Second chain) Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for the Farewell Pilgrimage. Some of us had put on the ihram for Hajj only, and some had put on the ihram for Umrah only, and some of those who had put on the ihram for Umrah had also brought sacrificial animals with them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those who have put on the ihram for Umrah and do not have a sacrificial animal with them should come out of the restrictions of ihram after performing Umrah, and those who have put on the ihram for Umrah and have a sacrificial animal with them should not come out of ihram, and those who have put on the ihram for Hajj should complete their Hajj. Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I was among those who had put on the ihram for Umrah.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In these ahadith, permission has been given to perform any of the three types of Hajj, however, the person who has a sacrificial animal (hady) with him will perform Hajj Qiran. There is a difference of opinion regarding which type of Hajj is superior. Without doubt, both Hajj Tamattu‘ and Hajj Qiran are superior to Hajj Ifrad, because along with them, ‘umrah is also performed, and sacrifice is obligatory upon those performing these types of Hajj. Now, as for the issue of which of the two—Hajj Qiran or Hajj Tamattu‘—is superior: in Hajj Qiran, the restrictions of ihram are greater, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed this Hajj; whereas in Hajj Tamattu‘, there is more effort and hardship, as separate tawaf and sa‘i must be performed for both Hajj and ‘umrah, and the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, on one occasion, expressed the desire to perform this Hajj. The correct view is that Hajj Qiran is superior; Hafiz Ibn Qayyim has discussed its superiority in detail.
