Hadith 4176

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): How did you recite the Talbiyah? He said: I said, "O Allah! I am entering into Ihram in the same way as Your Messenger entered into Ihram." Then he said: I also have a sacrificial animal with me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Then you cannot come out of Ihram.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Since Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu had a sacrificial animal (hady) with him, he could not become lawful (halal), and all the rulings of the Hajj performed by the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam applied to him. Whereas Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari radi Allahu anhu did not have a sacrificial animal, so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam instructed him to perform ‘umrah, become lawful (halal), and then, on the eighth of Dhu al-Hijjah, assume the ihram for Hajj anew. In this way, he would perform Hajj tamattu‘. From these ahadith, it is understood that the talbiyah can also be mentioned in a conditional manner; then, if the person in ihram does not fulfill the requirements of the relevant rulings, he will make changes according to other rulings of the Shari‘ah. For example, when Sayyiduna Abu Musa radi Allahu anhu could not be included under the ihram of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam instructed him to perform ‘umrah in that ihram and become lawful (halal).
