(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Dhu’l-Hulayfah as the miqat for the people of Madinah, Qarn for the people of Najd, and Juhfah for the people of Sham. Then Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: These three places I myself memorized from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and it was also conveyed to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yalamlam is for the people of Yemen. Someone asked him: And what is the miqat for the people of Iraq? He said: In those days, Iraq did not even exist.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The intention of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu is that at that time Iraq had not yet been conquered. In reality, the hadith in which the miqat (appointed station for entering the state of ihram) of Iraq is clarified was not known to him; this is why he considered the designation of Dhat ‘Irq as a result of people’s estimation. However, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam himself designated Dhat ‘Irq as the miqat for Iraq, as is evident from the next hadith. If the point about a place not yet being conquered is brought up, then even in the Prophetic era, Sham (Greater Syria) had not been conquered, yet its miqat had already been determined.
