It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed four rak‘ahs of Zuhr prayer in Madinah Munawwarah and, upon reaching Dhul-Hulaifah, performed two rak‘ahs of ‘Asr prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) spent the night there, and after the Fajr prayer, mounted his ride. When his mount stood up with him (peace and blessings be upon him), he glorified and magnified Allah. Then, when the mount ascended to Baida’, he (peace and blessings be upon him) proclaimed the Talbiyah for both Hajj and ‘Umrah. When we reached Makkah Mukarramah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed the people to become halal, that is, to remove their ihram. When the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah arrived, the people donned the ihram for Hajj and recited the Talbiyah. On this occasion, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sacrificed seven camels while they were standing, and in Madinah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered two white, horned rams as sacrifice.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam slaughtered sixty-three camels with his own hand. It is possible that Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu only saw the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam slaughtering seven camels. In the last sentence, Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu is describing the practice of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in Madinah Munawwarah. The wording of a narration in Sahih Bukhari is as follows: ((Thumma baata hatta asbaha, fa salla as-subh, thumma rakiba rahilatahu …)) … Then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam spent the night at Dhu’l-Hulayfah until morning came, so he performed the Fajr prayer, and then (for Hajj and ‘Umrah) mounted his riding animal.
