عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنِ الْعُمْرَةِ قَبْلَ الْحَجِّ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: لَا بَأْسَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ يَعْتَمِرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَحُجَّ، قَالَ عِكْرِمَةُ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: اعْتَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَحُجَّ
Ikrimah bin Khalid says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about performing Umrah before Hajj. He said: There is no harm for the one who performs Umrah before Hajj; rather, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself performed Umrah before Hajj.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed a total of four ‘umrahs:
(1) The ‘Umrah of Hudaybiyyah, (2) The ‘Umrah of Qada, (3) The ‘Umrah of Ji‘ranah, and (4) The ‘Umrah performed along with the Farewell Hajj (Hajjat al-Wada‘).
The first three ‘umrahs were performed in the sacred month of Dhu al-Qa‘dah, which is the month before Dhu al-Hijjah, and the fourth ‘umrah was performed in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah along with Hajj. After one chapter, the explanation of all these ‘umrahs is coming.
