Hadith 4060

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Even after the emergence of Gog and Magog, Hajj and Umrah of the House of Allah will be performed.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … During the second coming of ‘Isa (alayhis salam), the emergence of Ya’juj and Ma’juj will occur, and then they will be destroyed in his very era. After them, there will still be a time of goodness, in which the performance of Hajj and ‘Umrah will take place. From this hadith, it is understood that even after the appearance of the series of signs of the Hour, Hajj and ‘Umrah will be performed. However, from the following ahadith, it is understood that by that time, the Ka‘bah will have been destroyed, so how will Hajj and ‘Umrah be performed?

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ((Yukharribu al-Ka‘bata dhu al-suwaiqatayn min al-Habashah.)) … “The Abyssinian with two thin shins will destroy and ruin the Ka‘bah.” (Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ((Ka’annī bihi aswada afḥaja yaqla‘uhā ḥajaran.)) … “It is as if I am seeing a black man with wide legs who is uprooting the Ka‘bah stone by stone.” (Sahih Bukhari)

In Musnad Ahmad, the wording of a hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) is: ((… thumma taji’u al-Habashah fa yukhribūnahu kharāban lā yu‘maru ba‘dahu abadan, wa hum alladhīna yastakhrijūna kanzahu)) … “Then the people of Abyssinia will come and they will destroy the Ka‘bah in such a way that it will never be inhabited after that, and they are the ones who will extract its treasure.”

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has presented a reconciliation in this way: that in the hadith, “Even after the emergence of Ya’juj and Ma’juj, Hajj and ‘Umrah of the Baytullah will be performed,” the Baytullah refers to its location (i.e., the structure of the Baytullah will not exist, but its location will be kept in view and the rites of Hajj and ‘Umrah related to it will be performed accordingly).
