Hadith 4059

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no reward for an accepted Hajj except Paradise. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is an accepted Hajj? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That during which people are fed and greetings are made common.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The wording of one narration is: ((Birru al-hajji it’amu al-ta’ami, wa teebu al-kalaam.)) … “Feeding food and speaking kindly are the virtues of Hajj.” From such texts, it is understood that Hajj is not merely the performance of the rites of Hajj, but rather it is the name of abstaining from every kind of evil and performing every possible good deed. In the hadith of this chapter, it is explained that during the journey of Hajj and during Hajj itself, feeding others, greeting (with salam), and speaking kindly are among the best good deeds. This is because most of the people gathered on this occasion are travelers, strangers, and in need; if they treat each other with good conduct, then each other's needs can be fulfilled and the stages of completing Hajj can also continue smoothly. We have defined Hajj Mabroor as that Hajj in which no sin is committed; in this hadith, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has mentioned two good deeds. In reality, these are two signs among the signs of Hajj Mabroor, and mentioning these two good deeds in response to the questioner was because that person was likely negligent in these two matters. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to answer the questioner according to his condition.
