Narrated from Sayyiduna 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is like the previous hadith, except for this difference: Performing both of them consecutively increases lifespan and sustenance, and they erase sins just as a furnace removes the impurities from iron.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This subject has been mentioned in several places in the Qur’an and Sunnah, that due to righteousness (birr) and piety (taqwa), Allah Ta’ala grants sustenance (rizq) to a servant and there is blessing (barakah) in provision. As for the issue of an increase in lifespan due to Hajj, ‘Umrah, and other good deeds, the question arises: since the time of everyone’s death has already been decreed, then how is it possible for lifespan to be increased due to good deeds? There are four answers to this:
1. Allah Ta’ala keeps some forms of decree (qadar) conditional, such as: if this servant is righteous, then his lifespan will be such-and-such, and if he is wicked, then it will be such-and-such, while Allah Ta’ala already knows whether the servant will be righteous or wicked.
2. By increase in lifespan is meant the attainment of blessing (barakah), the ability to perform good deeds (tawfiq), and not wasting one’s life. Due to these three matters, a person, in his short life, prepares such provisions for the Hereafter that even those who live long lives cannot match him. Such a situation can be described as an increase in his life.
3. By increase in lifespan is meant the continuation of that person’s good reputation (dhikr jameel), i.e., due to good deeds, Allah Ta’ala makes him well-known for righteousness among other people, and thus, for a long time, his good name remains widespread.
4. Just as there are other causes, good deeds are also a cause for a long life; when Allah Ta’ala wishes to grant someone a long life, He grants him the ability to perform good deeds. However, this increase is with respect to the creation; as for the knowledge of Allah Ta’ala, there is no increase or decrease in it. Its example is just as healing (shifa) is considered a cause of life.
