Hadith 4045

Zar bin Hubaysh said: If it were not for these foolish people, I would put my finger in my ear and loudly announce that Laylat al-Qadr occurs after the first three nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan and before the last three nights. This was told to me by a person who cannot lie to me, and it was narrated to him by a being who also cannot speak falsely. I asked Abu Yusuf: Do they mean Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes, that is the case.

Hadith Takhrij «
Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... The intention of Zir bin Hubaysh is the twenty-seventh night; he is considering the month of Ramadan as consisting of thirty days and, by counting the middle night among the last seven nights, he understands the Night of Qadr to be the twenty-seventh night of Ramadan. He has taken this narration from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b radi Allahu anhu, and he (Ubayy) from the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The two personalities referred to as those who cannot lie are these very two individuals.
