Hadith 4013

(Third chain) Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to exert himself in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan more than he did at any other time.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From these ahadith it is understood that during the nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, one should engage abundantly in worship, and also keep one’s family and children awake for this purpose. The reason for this is that Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree) also falls within these ten nights, and this is the end of Ramadan, and generally people try to make up for any remaining shortcomings during this period. Nowadays, it has been observed that when most people make arrangements to stay awake during the nights of these ten days for supererogatory prayers (nawafil) and for standing in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr, most of their time is spent in idle talk and drinking tea and such things.
