(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ): قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ أَيْقَظَ أَهْلَهُ وَرَفَعَ الْمِئْزَرَ، (وَفِي لَفْظٍ: وَشَدَّ الْمِئْزَرَ)، قِيلَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ: مَا رَفَعَ الْمِئْزَرَ؟ قَالَ: اعْتِزَالُ النِّسَاءِ
. (Second chain) When the last ten days of Ramadan began, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would keep his family awake and tighten his waistcloth. Someone asked Abu Bakr bin Ayyash: What is the meaning of "tightening the waistcloth"? He said: Separation from wives.
