Hadith 4001

(وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ): قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْتَكِفَ فَيُخْرِجُ إِلَيَّ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَأَغْسِلُهُ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ
(Second chain) She says: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was in i'tikaf, he would extend his blessed head towards me from the mosque, then I would wash it while I was menstruating.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is understood that the body of a menstruating (ha’idh) woman is pure; however, the blood of menstruation (hayd) is impure. Therefore, whichever part of the clothing or body this blood comes into contact with will also become impure.
