Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a dog puts its mouth in any of your vessels, then wash it seven times."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From these narrations, it is clearly established that when a dog puts its mouth into someone's vessel, it should be scrubbed with soil the first time and then washed seven times with water. The wording "its first [washing] should be with soil" is the preferred opinion. If the substance present in the vessel is liquid, it should be discarded, and if it is solid, the affected portion should be removed and thrown away, as is mentioned in the hadith regarding a mouse falling into a vessel. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) himself gave the ruling to wash such a vessel three times; it is possible that this was his own ijtihadi (independent juristic) opinion. Therefore, one should act upon the marfu‘ (attributed directly to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) narration.
