Hadith 3981

Mawla Ibn Abbas, Hazrat Ikrimah says: I visited Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) at his home and asked him about fasting on the Day of Arafah. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on the Day of Arafah in the plain of Arafat.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In this hadith, those engaged in the obligatory Hajj are being prohibited from fasting on the Day of Arafah. The wisdoms behind this are clear in their own place. The hardship of travel, the abundance of remembrance (dhikr), and the requirement to serve others all dictate that one should not fast.
