It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Aqrab, he says: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about fasting, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Observe one fast every month. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, I am capable of more than that. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am more capable than that, I am more capable than that, so then observe two fasts every month. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Grant me permission for more than that. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Grant me permission for more than that, grant me permission for more than that, so then observe three fasts every month.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … At the end of the hadith, your saying twice, “Allow me more than this,” is in fact you, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, using irony towards this companion and reproaching him.
In reality, you are repeating your companion’s statement in a tone of astonishment, as he, feeling greater strength within himself, is imposing hardship upon himself and seeking permission to do more, whereas the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is guiding him towards ease.
