Hadith 3892

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِطَعَامٍ بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ، فَقَالَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ: ((ادْنُيَا فَكُلَا))، قَالَا: إِنَّا صَائِمَانِ، قَالَ: ((ارْحِلُوا لِصَاحِبَيْكُمْ، اعْمَلُوا لِصَاحِبَيْكُمْ))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that at the place of Marr az-Zahran, food was presented to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): "Come close and eat the food." They said: "We are fasting." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Give mounts to these companions of yours and do their share of the work as well."
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The intent of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was that since Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar radi Allahu anhuma were fasting, therefore the other companions should serve them.
