Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution with the water left over from her ritual bath after major impurity.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the light of these clear ahadith, the ahadith of the previous chapter will be interpreted. Furthermore, some additional narrations are as follows: Sayyida Aisha radi Allahu anha says: ((The one who cast the evil eye would be ordered to perform ablution (wudu), then the person afflicted by the evil eye would perform ritual bath (ghusl) with that water.)) (Abu Dawood: 3880)

Similarly, Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunaif radi Allahu anhu was afflicted by the evil eye of Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi’ah radi Allahu anhu. When the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam came to know of this, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam became displeased with Sayyiduna Amir radi Allahu anhu and said that when someone sees something that pleases him, he should supplicate for blessing (barakah) for it. Then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam ordered him to perform ritual bath (ghusl). So he washed his face, hands, elbows, knees, the edges of his legs, and the inner part of his lower garment (izar) in a vessel. Then that water was poured over the head and back of Sayyiduna Sahl radi Allahu anhu, and the remainder of the vessel was poured over his rear side, and he was cured. (Musnad Ahmad: 3/486, 15980)
