Hadith 3801

(وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ، بِنَحْوِهِ وَفِيهِ) كَانَ تَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ ثُمَّ يَغْدُو إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَأَسْمَعُ قِرَاءَتَهُ وَيَصُومُ
(Sec­ond chain) Similarly, the hadith is narrated, except that in it are these words: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter the morning in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ghusl and proceed for prayer (and would lead the people in prayer and) I would be listening to the sound of his (peace and blessings be upon him) recitation, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would also fast on that day.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of all the narrations is absolutely clear that a person, after making the intention of fasting and beginning the fast while in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), can perform the ritual bath (ghusl) after the break of dawn. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during the fast, but it is permissible to begin the fast while in a state of janabah, as is established from these narrations.
