It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: During the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), on one day in the month of Ramadan, clouds appeared (and we thought that the sun had set), so we broke our fast, but later the sun became visible. I (Abu Usama) asked Hisham: So were the people ordered to make up that fast? He said: Is there any other option besides this?

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The last sentence of the hadith, "Is there any alternative besides this?" is the personal reasoning (istidlal) of Hisham bin Urwah; otherwise, in such a situation, those who make such a mistake should immediately desist from their error and complete the fast, because this too is a type of forgetfulness. In hadith number (3705 or 3708), among the issues we discussed, one aspect was that if a person, after the time for suhoor (pre-dawn meal) has passed, receives news during the day that the crescent of Ramadan has been sighted, then from that moment he should make the intention (niyyah) of fasting, and there will be no need for making up (qada) that fast. The issue mentioned in this hadith is also of the same kind.
