عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ((تَمَّ الشَّهْرُ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and said: This month has been completed as (29) days.

Benefits: … The complete narration is as follows: Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu said: “The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam separated himself from his wives for a month. When twenty-nine (29) days had passed, Jibril alayhis salam came to him and said: ‘Your oath has been fulfilled, and the month has been completed.’” The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had separated himself from his wives for a month. When twenty-nine (29) days had passed, Jibril alayhis salam came to him and said: “Your oath has been fulfilled, for the month has passed.” (Musnad Ahmad: 1/235)
