(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: By the One in Whose hand is the soul of the Messenger of Allah! This month is casting its shadow over you; there is no month better than this for the believers, and there is no month worse than this for the hypocrites. Allah, the Exalted, writes the reward of this month and its supererogatory acts even before its arrival, as well as its sins, punishment, and wretchedness. The reason for this is that the believer prepares strength for spending in worship during it, while the hypocrite remains heedless and seeks out people's faults. Thus, this month is a gain for the believer and also a gain for the wicked.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is the routine of a believer that he arranges and manages in advance the means of livelihood that will be needed during the month of Ramadan, so that there is no shortcoming in fulfilling the rights of this blessed month. For example: prearranging for suhoor and iftar, charity and almsgiving (sadaqah and khayrat), standing in prayer at night, i‘tikaf (spiritual retreat), and further obligatory and supererogatory acts (fara’id and nawafil). But the unfortunate hypocrite, taking advantage of this apparent heedlessness of the believer, thinks about increasing his own evil—about how he can harm or trouble the people of faith in various ways.
