Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever uses his tongue for such a good deed that continues to be acted upon after him, Allah Almighty will continue to reward him until the Day of Resurrection, and on the Day of Resurrection, He will grant him the full reward.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Hafiz Suyuti, drawing from various ahadith, has presented in poetic form ten such deeds whose reward continues to reach a person even after his death. The following are those verses:
When the son of Adam dies, nothing of his deeds continues for him except ten: Knowledge he spread, the supplication of a child, planting a date-palm, and ongoing charity, Inheritance of a mushaf (copy of the Qur’an), guarding a frontier, digging a well or running a river, A house built for a stranger so he may take refuge in it, or the construction of a place for the remembrance of Allah, And teaching the Noble Qur’an—so take these, enumerated from the ahadith.
Translation: “When a person dies, only the reward of ten deeds continues to reach him: such knowledge that he taught to people, the supplication of his offspring, planting a tree, ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), inheritance of the Noble Qur’an, standing guard in the path of Allah, having a well dug, having a canal dug, building a house for a poor person so that he may take refuge in it, or constructing a place for the remembrance of Allah, and teaching the Qur’an. These alone are established from the ahadith. All types of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) are the result of the deceased’s own actions.”
