It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that three men came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and one of them said: O Messenger of Allah! I had one hundred dinars and I gave ten dinars in charity. The second said: O Messenger of Allah! I had ten dinars, and I gave one dinar in charity. The third said: O Messenger of Allah! I had one dinar, and I gave a tenth of it in charity. After hearing their words, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In terms of reward, you are all equal, because each of you has given a tenth of his wealth in charity.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From a spiritual perspective, the issue mentioned in this blessed hadith is correct. In many ahadith, the small amount of charity (sadaqah) given by a person with little wealth has been declared superior. The following blessed hadith also reflects this reality: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “A single dirham has surpassed one hundred thousand dirhams.” They asked: “How is that?” He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam replied: “A man had two dirhams; he gave one dirham in charity, and another man went to his large amount of wealth, took out one hundred thousand dirhams from it, and gave it in charity.” (Nasa’i: 2527) Thus, it is evident that a poor person and one with little wealth should also participate in this virtuous act according to his capacity.
