Hadith 3613

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is necessary for every person to give charity daily, and some of its forms are as follows: reconciling between two people is charity, helping someone to mount his ride and seating him on it is charity, placing someone’s belongings on his ride is charity, removing something harmful from the path is charity, speaking a good word is charity, and every step taken towards prayer is also charity.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … “To help someone mount (an animal) and seat him on his ride”—this means that if a person is ill or weak, or if his mount is rebellious or unruly, then in such a situation, other Muslims should assist him. From this, we should realize what Islam demands from us regarding the rights of fellow human beings (huquq al-‘ibad). However, our situation is such that if there is something harmful lying in the path, it is possible that a pedestrian might notice it and remove it, but if a cyclist sees it, it will be difficult for him to dismount and perform this good deed; for a motorcyclist, this act becomes even more difficult, and for a car driver, it becomes almost impossible. The reality is that we have been deceived by Allah’s blessings, and because of these blessings, we have become distant from the disposition of doing good deeds.
