Hadith 3598

Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are forty good deeds, the greatest of which is to lend a milch goat to someone. Whoever performs any one of these forty good deeds, hoping for reward and affirming the promised thing, Allah Almighty will admit him into Paradise.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In Sahih Bukhari and Sunan Abu Dawud, there is an addition to these words: The narrator of the hadith, Hassan bin Atiyyah, said that lending a milch goat as a loan (ariyyah), we counted such good deeds of lesser rank, for example, replying to a greeting (salam), saying "yarhamukallah" to someone who sneezes, removing something harmful from the path, and so on, but we could not count more than fifteen good deeds.

Certainly, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would have knowledge of these forty good deeds, but not mentioning them is more beneficial for us, so that we do not become bound to only these forty righteous actions and abandon other good deeds, whereas in the pure Shari'ah, every kind of good deed and its reward has been determined. There can be no state upon a person in which he could complain that in this condition, no good deed can be performed.

From this blessed hadith, it is also understood that when a Muslim gives charity or does any financial favor, he should try to create purity in his intention in various ways, considering what his objective is in this action.
