عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((أَتَدْرُونَ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟)) قَالُوا: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: ((الْمَنِيحَةُ، أَنْ يَمْنَحَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ الدِّرْهَمَ أَوْ ظَهْرَ الدَّابَّةِ أَوْ لَبَنَ الشَّاةِ أَوْ لَبَنَ الْبَقَرَةِ))
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know which charity is the most virtuous? The Companions said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: To lend something to someone, for example, if one of you gives his Muslim brother a dirham, or a riding animal, or the milk of a goat, or the milk of a cow.

Benefits: … To give something as a loan (ariyyah) means to give someone an item for a certain period with the intention that during this time, he may benefit from its utility—for example, giving an animal for milk, land for cultivation, a fruit-bearing tree for its fruit, or an animal for riding, temporarily. From this, one can estimate the significance of something given permanently.
