Hadith 3589

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about charity and mentioned a small thing, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: Give it and do not be stingy, otherwise stinginess will be shown to you.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This calamity is found in our era as well, to the utmost degree, that people have come to consider an extremely small amount of charity and alms as sufficient and satisfactory for themselves. If a person gives a beggar a hundred or fifty (rupees), he is unable to forget it for several days. Respected readers! Whether anyone accepts it or not, practically, we have not yet established this belief and conviction that generosity leads to an increase in treasures, and that many generations continue to benefit from its blessings. I bear Allah Ta‘ala as my witness that in June 2012, I met a man who, a few years earlier, possessed fifty million rupees and an excellent business, but on June 25, he was given a thousand rupees as charity after begging for it, so that he could fulfill his need, while he himself claims that he has no idea where such a large sum of his money disappeared. The matter is that when miserliness comes from Allah Ta‘ala, then a person does one thing, but something else happens; a man begins to dig pits for himself. May Allah protect us (al-‘iyadhu billah).
