Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is understood from this that the effort of Shaytan is to bind the Muslim in lowly qualities such as stinginess and miserliness. This is why he is greatly distressed when a person gives charity and alms. We should, therefore, spend in the way of Allah, following the command of our Lord, seeking His pleasure, and causing distress to our eternal enemy, Shaytan.
This hadith also shows that charity and almsgiving hold great importance in a Muslim society and are a major means of reform. Through this, not only does the giver of charity become purified and attain blessing in his wealth, but the recipient of charity is also able to improve his circumstances. If only this system of charity and almsgiving could become organized among us as well, and the wealthy would consider it an honor for themselves.
