Benefits: … Not asking insistently is a characteristic of good people, as Allah the Exalted has stated: {لِلْفُقَرَآئِالَّّذِیْنَاُحْصِرُوْافِیْسَبِیْلِاللّٰہِلَایَسْتَطِیْعُوْنَضَرْبًافِیْالْاَرْضِیَحْسَبُھُمُالْجَاھِلُاَغْنِیَآئَمِنَالتَّعَفُّفِتَعْرِفُھُمْبِسِیْمٰھُمْلَایَسْاَلُوْنَالنَّاسَإِِلْحَافًاوَّمَاتُنْفِقُوْامِنْخَیْرٍفَاِنَّاللّٰہَبِہٖعَلِیْمٌ۔} (Surah al-Baqarah: 273) … "Charity is only for the poor who have been restrained in the way of Allah, unable to move about in the land. The ignorant consider them wealthy because of their restraint from begging. You will recognize them by their appearance—they do not persistently ask people. Whatever wealth you spend, Allah is fully aware of it." (40) A dirham is one uqiyyah, which is approximately (10) tolas of silver.
