Hadith 3503

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ لَا تَحِلُّ لِغَنِيٍّ وَلَا لِذِي مِرَّةٍ سَوِيٍّ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Charity is not lawful for the wealthy and the healthy and strong.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … For a healthy person, it will be permissible to take zakat and to ask (for help) at such a time when, despite making efforts, he is unable to find any work. In any case, he should be considered excused in the sight of Allah Ta'ala, and no (worldly) standard should become a barrier before him.
