(Fourth chain) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The needy is not the one to whom a date or two or a few morsels are returned; the truly needy is only the one who refrains from asking (people). If you wish, then recite this verse: They do not ask people persistently.

Benefits: … The complete verse is: {لِلْفُقَرَآئِالَّّذِیْنَاُحْصِرُوْافِیْسَبِیْلِاللّٰہِلَایَسْتَطِیْعُوْنَضَرْبًافِیْالْاَرْضِیَحْسَبُھُمُالْجَاھِلُاَغْنِیَآئَمِنَالتَّعَفُّفِتَعْرِفُھُمْبِسِیْمٰھُمْلَایَسْاَلُوْنَالنَّاسَإِِلْحَافًاوَّمَاتُنْفِقُوْامِنْخَیْرٍفَاِنَّاللّٰہَبِہٖعَلِیْمٌ۔} (Surah al-Baqarah: 273) … "Charity is only for those poor who have been restrained in the way of Allah, unable to move about in the land; the ignorant person thinks them to be wealthy because of their restraint from begging. You will recognize them by their mark; they do not ask people persistently. And whatever wealth you spend, Allah is fully aware of it."
