Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates, she says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was present in my house when a man came and asked: What is the amount of zakat on such and such wealth? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Such and such amount. He said: Then so-and-so has wronged me and collected more zakat from me. Then when they investigated, they found that indeed he had taken an extra amount equal to one sa’. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What will be your condition when your rulers will oppress you even more than this?

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The officials of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam were bound to justice, fairness, and adherence to the Prophetic command. Due to measurement and weighing, a difference of one sa‘ (a specific measure) more or less could occur; certainly, such an amount cannot be called an excess. However, the prophecy that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam made regarding the rulers to come was fulfilled in such a way that the ruling class openly began to amass the wealth and money of the public through unlawful means, and through taxes and various other names, they began to mistreat the wealth and property of their subjects.
