عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَادٍّ عَشَرَةَ أَوْسُقٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ بِقِنْوٍ، يُعَلَّقُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ لِلْمَسَاكِينِ
Syedna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that whoever harvests ten wasq of dates should hang a bunch in the mosque for the needy.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: Imam Abu Dawud has mentioned this hadith in the “Chapter on the Rights of Wealth.” It should be kept in mind that this hadith is not related to zakat, but rather to voluntary charity (nafl sadaqah). Therefore, it is also understood from this that, apart from zakat, there are other people’s rights in one’s wealth as well.
