Hadith 3409

(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((فِيمَا سَقَتِ الْأَنْهَارُ وَالْغَيْمُ الْعُشُورُ وَفِيمَا سَقَتِ السَّانِيَةُ نِصْفُ الْعُشْرِ))
(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: For land irrigated by rivers and rain, one-tenth is due as zakat, and for that which is irrigated by camels, one-twentieth is due as zakat.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Among us, generally the zakat of crops is not referred to as zakat, rather it is called “ushr,” although “ushr” (one-tenth) and “nisf al-ushr” (one-twentieth) are actually the amounts of zakat that have been specified.
