Hadith 3340

It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not make my grave a place of festival, and do not make your homes into graveyards. Wherever you may be, send blessings upon me, for indeed your blessings will reach me.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: “Do not make my grave a festival (Eid)”—the meaning of this is that the blessed grave of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam should not be turned into a place of festivity, and specific days and times should not be designated for its visitation. Nor should the purpose of any journey be to visit it, as is done for Hajj, Umrah, or for the Sacred Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) and the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid al-Nabawi). Otherwise, this would be considered resembling the Jews and Christians.
