It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma’dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Beware! I have been given the Qur’an and something like it along with it. Beware! Soon there will be a man, reclining on his couch, who will say: ‘Hold fast only to the Qur’an; whatever you find in it as lawful, consider it lawful, and whatever you find in it as unlawful, consider it unlawful.’ Beware! The domestic donkey and the predatory animal with fangs are not lawful for you, nor is the lost property of a dhimmi lawful for you, unless its owner has given up hope of it. And if people stay with a nation, it is incumbent upon that nation to host them. If they do not host them, it is permissible for the guests to take from their wealth an amount equivalent to their hospitality.”

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Two types of revelation were granted to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: one is the Noble Qur’an, which is called "wahy matlu" (recited revelation), and the other is Hadith, which is called "wahy ghayr matlu" (non-recited revelation). The statement of Allah, the Exalted, is: {وَیُعَلِّمُھُمُالْکِتَابَوَالْحِکْمَۃَ} … and he (the Prophet) teaches them the Book and wisdom. By "Book" is meant the Noble Qur’an, and by "wisdom" is meant the Sunnah of the Prophet. And it is this Sunnah, in the light of which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has to clarify the sacred speech, as Allah, the Exalted, has said: {وَاَنْزَلْنَااِلَیْکَالذِّکْرَلِتُبَیِّنَلِلنَّاسِمَانُزِّلَاِلَیْہِمْ} … and We have sent down to you the Reminder so that you may clarify to the people what has been sent down to them. Hospitality is the right of every guest, whether we know them or not. Nowadays, people are heedless in fulfilling this right, whereas honoring the guest is a requirement of faith and conviction. This is not the place for a detailed discussion.
