Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to a garden of Banu Najjar in Madinah Munawwarah. There, he (peace and blessings be upon him) heard a sound from a grave and asked, "When was this man buried?" The companions replied, "O Messenger of Allah! This man was buried in the pre-Islamic era of ignorance." Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) felt somewhat reassured and said, "If I did not fear that you would stop burying your dead, I would pray to Allah Almighty to let you hear the punishment of the grave."
