It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Aas bin Wa'il had made a vow in the days of ignorance to sacrifice one hundred camels. (Then he died, and one of his sons) Hisham bin Aas sacrificed fifty camels from his share, but Sayyiduna Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If your father had affirmed the Oneness (of Allah), and then you fasted and gave charity on his behalf, it would have benefited him.
