بَابُ النَّهْيِ عَنِ الْبِنَاءِ عَلَى الْقُبُورِ وَتَخْصِيصِهَا وَالْجُلُوسِ عَلَيْهَا وَالصَّلَاةِ إِلَيْهَاChapter on the prohibition of building over graves, designating them, sitting on them, and praying towards them

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا وَضِعَ فِي قَبْرِهِ وَتَوَلَّى عَنْهُ أَصْحَابُهُ حَتَّى إِنَّهُ لَيَسْمَعُ قَرْعَ نَعَالِهِمْ أَتَاهُ مَلَكَانِ فَيُقْعِدَانِهِ … )) الْحَدِيثَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When a servant is placed in the grave and his friends leave him and return, he hears the sound of their sandals. Then two angels come to him and make him sit up... .
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It should be kept in mind that the deceased hearing the sound of sandals does not necessitate that walking over graves or between them while wearing shoes is permissible. Therefore, these two hadiths do not contradict the hadith in which walking in the graveyard while wearing shoes has been prohibited, especially since that hadith is explicit in its prohibition.
