Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting with Marwan when a funeral procession passed by. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) also passed by and said: O Amir! Stand up. (Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him) knows that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not sit when accompanying a funeral until it was placed on the ground.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From other chains of transmission of this hadith, it is evident that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id (radi Allahu anhuma), and Marwan all performed the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah) for this deceased person. In fact, Marwan even led the prayer as imam. After the funeral prayer, when Marwan sat down, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) also sat down with him. It is possible that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) did not consider standing (at that point) to be obligatory, or perhaps he acted out of consideration for expediency.
