Hadith 3214

عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: نُهِيَ عَنْ اِتِّبَاعِ الْجَنَائِزِ وَلَمْ يُعْزَمْ عَلَيْنَا
Sayyida Umm Atiyya (may Allah be pleased with her) says: We were forbidden from following funeral processions, but it was not made strict upon us.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The one who prohibited was the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, as has been clarified in other narrations. Also, it is understood from this hadith that it is not unlawful (haram) for women to accompany the funeral procession.
