Mujahid narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that a funeral passed by us, then he said: If you also stand up and (come with us). Then he took my hand and held it tightly. When we reached near the graveyard, he heard the sound of a woman crying behind him, while he was holding my hand. He turned me around and, turning towards her, scolded her and said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from following such a funeral in which there is the sound of weeping.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the narration of Ibn Majah, the words "Rannatun" (a weeping woman) are mentioned. From this hadith, it is also understood that it is disliked (makruh) for women to accompany funeral processions due to their lack of patience. Nevertheless, if the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah) is being performed inside the mosque or at home, then women should participate, as is established from the ahadith mentioned in the previous fourth chapter, "The Description of the Funeral Prayer in the Mosque."
