Hadith 3192

But this narration is authentic, because Ibn Abi Dhi’b’s hearing from this Salih was before his confusion, as Shaykh al-Albani has clarified. See: (Sahihah: 2351. Narrated by Abu Dawood: 3191, and Ibn Majah: 1517 (see: 9730). It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever offers the funeral prayer in the mosque, there is no reward for him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … If in this narration the word "lahu" the "lam" is taken in the meaning of "ala" (upon), then the meaning of this narration will be: "Whoever offered the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah) in the mosque, there is no sin upon him." And the wording in Sunan Abu Dawud is also "fa la shay'a 'alayhi" (then there is nothing upon him), and in the texts of the Qur'an and Hadith, "lam" is used in the meaning of "ala", as in the statement of Allah the Exalted: {وَاِنْ اَسَأْتُمْ فَلَھَا} that is, "fa 'alayha". If this hadith is understood with this meaning, then there will remain no contradiction with the previous narrations of Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha. However, if its meaning is taken as "there is no reward for him," then a contradiction will arise.
