Hadith 3147

It is narrated from Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a community prays the funeral prayer for a Muslim, their intercession is accepted on his behalf. Abu Mulaikh, the narrator, says: A community refers to forty, a hundred, or even more people.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Abu Mulaīḥ’s explanation is in accordance with the meaning of the aforementioned ahadith, because in one hadith there is mention of forty individuals, and in another, one hundred. In these ahadith, encouragement has been given for as many people as possible to participate in the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah); nevertheless, it is necessary that they be people of tawhid (monotheism) and sincerity (ikhlas).
