It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever accompanies the deceased (and remains with him) until the funeral prayer and (burial) is completed, he will have the reward of two qirats. And whoever goes with him until the funeral prayer is completed, for him is the reward of one qirat. By the One in whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! This qirat will be heavier on that person's scale than the mountain of Uhud.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the ahadith of this chapter, the virtue of accompanying the deceased, performing the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah), and remaining with the funeral procession until burial is mentioned. All the ahadith are clear in their meaning. The meaning of these ahadith is that the one who returns after performing the funeral prayer receives a reward of one qirat, and the one who, after the prayer, stays until the burial rites are completed receives two qirats. “Qirat” was the name of a small unit of weight, which was equal to one-twelfth of a dirham. However, in these ahadith, the qirat mentioned does not refer to this specific measure. How much is its amount? The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) himself has explained this.
