Muhammad bin Ka'b (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us while we were narrating hadiths and saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said. Seeing this, he said: "May these faces become ugly! Do you even know what you are saying?" I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever attributes to me something which I did not say, let him prepare his abode in the Fire."
