Sayyida Layla bint Qanif Thaqafiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I was among those women who gave the ritual bath (ghusl) to Sayyida Umm Kulthum bint Rasul (may Allah be pleased with her) at the time of her death. For her shroud, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) first gave us his waist-wrapper sheet, then in order, a shirt, a scarf, and a large sheet. Then she was wrapped in another cloth. Sayyida Layla (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was sitting by the door; he had her shroud with him and was handing us the garments one by one.
