Abdullah bin Farukh says: I was present when Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) was buried in his clothes along with his blood, and he was not given a ritual bath (ghusl).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … All the narrations are clear in their meaning that the martyr (shahid) should be buried without removing his weapons, etc., without giving him a ritual bath (ghusl), and he should be shrouded (kafan) in his clothes and buried without performing the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah). And in case of necessity, two or three individuals may be buried in a single grave, but among them, the one who recited the Qur’an more should be placed closer to the direction of the qiblah. However, it is also permissible to perform the funeral prayer for the martyr; the evidences are as follows: Sayyiduna Uqbah ibn Amir radi Allahu anhu says: The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam went out one day and, after eight years, performed prayer over the martyrs of Uhud in the same manner as he would pray over the deceased. It seemed as if he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was bidding farewell to the living and the dead, then he turned towards the pulpit… (Bukhari, Muslim)
