Hadith 3099

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever conceals (the faults of) another person in this world, Allah Almighty will conceal him on the Day of Resurrection.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By “covering” is meant concealing a fault. Due to the generality of this hadith, it includes both the living and the deceased. Regarding the faults of the living, the legal (shar‘i) principle is that every possible lawful effort should first be made for their rectification; otherwise, silence should be maintained. However, if due to this fault there is a risk of harm to a Muslim, then he should be informed.
